このたび、3作目となる新しいアルバム 『Humanity』 が、イギリスのレーベル Whirlwind Recordings より、5月1日にリリースされることになりました。

Whirlwind Recordingsはロンドンを拠点に、ニューヨークおよびUKのミュージシャンの作品を中心に発表している気鋭のジャズ・レーベルで、僕自身も以前から、好きなアーティストの作品を通して注目してきたレーベルです。

今回、レーベルの15年の歴史の中で、日本人としては初となるリリースになります。大きな喜びと同時に、身の引き締まる思いがしています。何より、世界中の少しでも多くの人々にこの作品が届くことを楽しみにしています。

個人的な関係性のまったくないところから音源を送り、それを気に入ってもらって契約に至ったのですが、その際に、レーベルを率いるプロデューサーであり、ベーシストとしても活躍する Michael Janisch 氏から、次の言葉をいただきました。

“We have had dozens of people from Japan write to us, but it never felt right so far.
I feel like you’re making a personal statement of truth with your music, which for me is important conceptually.”

「これまで何十人もの日本のミュージシャンが我々に連絡をくれたけれど、これまで“これだ”と思える作品はなかった。君の音楽からは、“自分自身の真実”が語られているのを感じた。このことは、私にとってとても重要なことなんです。」

見えては消えるような光を探し続けるように、少しずつ自分の中で築いてきた音楽が、このように評価されたことは、本当に嬉しい出来事でした。そして、その音楽をともに育て、発展させてくれた音楽仲間やリスナーの方々に、心から感謝しています。

I’m very humbled to announce that my new album “Humanity” will be released on May 1 by the London-based label Whirlwind Recordings.
I’ve known the label through albums by some of my favorite artists, and I feel fortunate to now be part of its roster. This will be the first release by a Japanese artist in the label’s 15-year history.

I’d like to share a few words from the label founder and producer, Michael Janisch, which he sent me when he decided to sign the album:
“We have had dozens of people from Japan write to us, but it never felt right so far.
I feel like you’re making a personal statement of truth with your music, which for me is important conceptually.”

I’m grateful to all the musicians, venues, and listeners who have supported me and shared music with me along the way. They have helped nurture this music.
